Day 1 05.08.2022 (Friday)
Oour first trip with Luci to M’era Luna Festival in Hildesheim. Traffic on the highway during the day grottig. We went after one of the hottest days in the southwest and a night at 25 degrees celsius and the further north we drove, the colder it got. In the end we arrived in Hildesheim at 19 degrees celsius and light rain.
According to the organizer we should already down Hildesheim because of building site at the exit Drispenstedt and follow the signs set up there. One should absolutely not follow the Navi, so Google i gnored that at the exit Hildesheim indicates a closure and conclusion was, Google was right 🙁. We were almost crashed into the barrier. Are then at the construction and congestion-free Drispenstedt exit and were thanks to signage quickly on the site.
After a short welcome and agreement with the camper and camper neighbors Luci parked and set up. We were impressed by the mass of caravans, campers and tents spread throughout the airport grounds. After a short tour and the very quick ribbon issue, we then strolled through the medieval market and immediately got us an admission ribbon for the evening pre-party in the hangar.
Following the tradition, there was in the medieval market immediately a cherry beer for both of us and a little later then very tasty knight roll (Mettwurst in a freshly baked bread dough) and a Schmachtlappen (freshly baked bread dough with curd cheese-ham topping). Very tasty and hot from the oven. Prices unfortunately contemporary high but ok for a festival. In the evening the indoor area opened and access to the stages, stalls and the Academy was possible. Later a short exploration we listened to Lydia Benecke during her lecture.
After some strolling through the halls and stalls it was time to visit the Hangardisko. DJ Antraxx also played there which was a great incentive for us to be there. After some initial confusion about the occasion and the artificial construction of a queue, it started. Music was cool but too many people in a small space and dancing hardly possible. We then decided to leave a little earlier to be fit for the official start of the festival the next day.
